Victron MultiPlus-II 24V/3000VA/70A-32A
MultiPlus-II is a powerful DC-AC hybrid inverter/charger with pure sine wave output, integrated adaptive battery charger and ultra-fast transfer switch of the power source - battery/source (external AC).
MultiPlus plus + ESS (Energy Storage System) function
MultiPlus-II is a multifunctional inverter/charger with all the functions of MultiPlus and the option of an external current sensor, which extends the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions. MultiPlus-II is ideal for professional marine, yachting, transport and island applications off the distribution grid. It also has a built-in anti-islanding protection function and is therefore also suitable for hybrid ESS applications.
ESS (Energy Storage System): Energy Storage Systems
MultiPlus-II is a key element in the Victron ESS system, providing flexibility for combination with solar MPPT controllers or grid-tied PV inverters.
Single AC input
MultiPlus-II is equipped with one AC input for connection to the distribution grid or e.g. a generator. If two AC inputs are required, then we choose the Quattro unit.
Two AC outputs
MultiPlus-II is equipped with two AC outputs. The main output AC1 ensures power supply without interruption of power supply. For example, in UPS mode, the MultiPlus-II will take over the power supply of the connected appliances (in less than 20 ms) in the event of a grid or generator failure.
The second AC output is only functional when an AC input (distribution grid/generator) is available. A load that would quickly discharge the batteries, such as a water heater, can therefore be connected to this output and will be powered only by the AC source.
Four-stage charging with adaptive charger with two battery charging outputs
The main DC output provides powerful full-scale charging of batteries through the "adaptive charging" system. The software controls the three-stage automatic charging process to suit the battery condition and adds a fourth charging stage - maintenance charging. The MultiPlus-II can also charge a second battery using an independent charging output designed for e.g. generator starter batteries with a maximum charging current of 4 A. The MultiPlus-II is designed to charge all types of lead, alkaline and lithium batteries.
Virtually unlimited power thanks to parallel operation
Up to 6 MultiPlus-II units can operate in parallel to achieve higher power.
Three-phase operation
Three units of the same type can be configured for three-phase operation with phase shift. But that's not all, up to 6 units connected in parallel can form one phase. A three-phase system can consist of up to 18 units with a total continuous output power of 43.2 kW (54 kVA) and a charging power of 630 A.
Unique features of the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions
MultiPlus-II prevents overloading of a power-limited AC source, e.g. a current-limited electrical connection or a generator. If the input AC source is overloaded due to high consumption, the charging current to the battery will be automatically reduced in the first step (PowerControl). The energy for charging is transferred to power the AC appliances. In the second step, the input AC source is strengthened with current drawn from the battery (PowerAssist). The AC output receives energy from both the AC source and the battery (inverter).
Solar energy
You can have AC power available even in the event of a power outage. MuliPlus-II can be used both in off-grid (island) systems and in photovoltaic systems permanently connected to the distribution grid. The MultiPlus-II does not have a PV input, but is designed to work with MPPT controllers (DC coupling systems) or grid-tie inverters (AC coupling systems) located on the AC input and/or AC output. More here in the ESS description.
System Configuration
- In the case of a simple UPS installation, the settings can be easily done in a few minutes using the DIP switches on the MultiPlus-II or the VE.Configure 3 software and a PC.
- Parallel and three-phase applications can be configured using the VE.Bus Quick Configure software (up to three units) or more complex systems using the VE.Bus System Configurator software (over three units) and a PC.
- Off-grid and hybrid PV installations to support self-consumption and greater energy independence, which include grid-connected inverters and/or solar MPPT chargers, can be configured using the VE.Configure 3 software using the appropriate wizards (specialized functions for specific applications).
- The MultiPlus-II has several programmable relays and auxiliary contacts for a variety of additional functions.
- The VE.Configure 3 basic software, as well as other configuration software, can be downloaded for free at www.victronenergy.com/support-and-downloads/software.
- You will need the MK3-USB PC communication interface for the software.
