Ubiquiti UniFi Access Retrofit Hub
DC-powered hub for Retrofit access systems with support for up to two doors and local storage of NFC credentials
UniFi Access Retrofit Hub is designed for upgrading existing access systems without the need for a complete infrastructure replacement. It supports the connection of Wiegand and OSDP readers including the proprietary UniFi Retrofit Reader and allows entry and exit control for maximum 2 doors independently of each other. The hub stores NFC credentials locally, which ensures full functionality even during a network failure or offline mode.
The device offers DC power supply 12/24 V with the option of connecting a backup 12V SLA battery via Retrofit PSU 12V for continuous operation during a power outage. The hub is controlled via the UniFi Access application, where unlocking schedules or temporary unlocking can be set. You can define times when doors will remain automatically unlocked, such as during business hours, without user interaction, or temporarily unlock doors on demand for a short period of time. Administrators can also remotely unlock doors connected to the Retrofit Hub in the UniFi Access app. Make sure the Retrofit Hub is running version 1.4.7.0 or later.
- Supports up to 2 doors with independent entry and exit control via Reader 1 and Reader 2 (cannot control two doors with one reader).
- Compatible with UniFi Retrofit Reader, third-party Wiegand readers, and the ability to daisy-chain up to 2 UniFi Retrofit Readers per door.
- Local storage of NFC credentials ensures functionality even in offline mode or when the network connection is down.
- Backup power support - With the Retrofit PSU 12V, you can easily connect a 12V SLA backup battery to keep the hub running during power outages.
- Digital inputs for connecting readers (2×), exit buttons (2×), door position sensors (2×) and emergency entry (1×).
- Output relays: dry relays (lock and aux) up to 30 V DC/1 A, powered relays 12 V DC/1 A or 24 V DC/0.5 A.
- Network connectivity via 2× 10/100 Mb RJ-45 ports with the option of connecting UniFi Protect cameras for door monitoring.
- Support for unlock schedules and temporary unlocking with firmware version 1.4.7.0 or later.
- DIN rail mounting with SGCC steel bracket and polycarbonate housing for installation in distribution boards.
- Operating temperature -10 to +40 °C with maximum power consumption of 50 W and CE, FCC, IC and NDAA Compliant certifications.
Compatibility and Installation
- The Hub automatically detects and pairs the UniFi Retrofit Reader after physical connection and power-on. To daisy-chain a second reader to the same door, you must run the Discover Reader feature in the UniFi Access app. Third-party Wiegand readers are supported, but daisy-chaining is only possible with the UniFi Retrofit Reader.
- The Retrofit Hub only supports UniFi Retrofit Readers or third-party Wiegand readers. Third-party OSDP readers are not supported.
Recommended maximum cable lengths
- For UA-Retrofit-Reader (250 mA): 18 AWG cable up to 152.4 m.
- For UA-Lock-Electric (400 mA): 18 AWG up to 100 m, 20 AWG up to 66 m.
- For UA-Lock-Magnetic-540kg (500 mA): 18 AWG up to 80 m, 20 AWG up to 51 m.
- For UA-Lock-Magnetic-270kg (800 mA): 18 AWG up to 46 m, 20 AWG up to 30 m.
- For other locks (1 A): 18 AWG up to 36 m, 20 AWG up to 24 m.
NFC card management
A single NFC card can be used across multiple Retrofit Hubs if the readers are configured with the same format. When changing the card format in Access or a third-party Wiegand platform, all NFC cards must be re-enrolled or door unlocking will fail.
Pairing the UniFi Protect Camera with the Retrofit Hub
